Mary Rogers was born on 22 September 1644, probably in Duxbury, Plymouth Colony, where her parents then resided, the daughter of Joseph and Hannah (Unknown) Rogers.[1] Her birth was recorded in the Sandwich register in 1651 along with her siblings.
Her husband, "John Phiney of Barnstable, weaver," made his will, dated 19 April 1718 and proved 18 June 1719, in which he desired that after the decease of his wife, his best bed & linens were to be given to daughter Mary Eastland, the rest of his moveable estate to be divided equally between his three daughters Mary Eastland, Mercy Crocker and Reliance Morton. After the decease of his wife, the money due to him from son Ebenezer to be equally divided between his seven sons: John, Joseph, Thomas, Ebenezer, Samuel, Benjamin & Jonathan Phiney. Son John Phiney to be his sole executor. Witnesses were Moody & Martha Russel, James Paine. The inventory of his estate was taken 9 March 1718/9, totalling approximately £116, of which £90 was due on a bond, the rest in household goods.[4] Mary, therefore, died after 19 April 1718 when John named her in his will.

I am curious why Mary was not named in her father's will dated 2 Jan 1678. He named his wife Hannah, sons Thomas, John and James and daughters Elizabeth and Hannah and grandchild Benjah Higgins. Is it certain Mary was his daughter?
